Sustainability as a promise to future generations
“Sustainability in the hotel industry has become an essential booking criterion for many travelers. In addition to optimising operating processes, we aim to implement concrete environmentally friendly practices in the areas of energy consumption, water saving and waste management. We want to meet the needs of our guests and at the same time actively support the change towards a more sustainable future.” This is how our managing director Hendrik Kröger spoke about sustainability at the Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
Acting sustainably means taking responsibility
In order to minimize our ecological footprint, we use energy-efficient technologies in our hotels. This includes modern cooling and heating systems, LED lighting and effective building insulation. When furnishing our houses and the building materials of floors and walls, we use natural materials with long-lasting use. Our hotels are currently being equipped with PV systems to reduce external energy requirements. With an advanced building management system, we optimally coordinate all processes. For example, various automation systems for lighting or temperature control ensure the best possible energy efficiency. To avoid the generation of paper waste, we have digitized our internal work processes, communication with guests and our service functions. By using water sparingly and using environmentally friendly cleaning agents, we protect resources and the environment.
Regional support and local partnerships
An important aspect of our sustainability efforts is promoting regional projects, foundations and service offerings such as the Arne Friedrich Foundation, FoxTrail, the Make Pizza Academy or the Berlin ArtNights. Where possible, we also work with local suppliers for the food and drinks we offer. In this way, we not only support the local economy and various projects, but also reduce transport costs and the associated emissions.
Diversity and inclusion as a prerequisite for a sustainable culture
People with a wide variety of stories and backgrounds work in our hotels. Employees from over 20 countries are employed by aletto and make up the unique cultural mix in our working environment. We are happy to have a diverse team and are also convinced that the diversity of our workforce is one of our greatest strengths. By signing the “Diversity Charter”, we want to illustrate our commitment to diversity in the world of work. Sustainability and diversity go hand in hand with inclusion. In order to be able to offer maximum comfort to as many visitors as possible, all rooms have barrier-free entrances and both houses have completely barrier-free rooms.
Collaborate and communicate with guests
We understand that sustainability is not just limited to personal responsibility, but must also involve society. That is why we also sensitize our guests to the topic. Visitors can buy drinks in reusable cups, for example, or have tap water bottled free of charge at our hotel bars. At breakfast buffets, guests can fill nougat cream, jam or butter from dispensers into edible bowls, which alone saves over 600,000 small packages per year. All bathrooms in our hotels also have refillable soap dispensers and tips and tricks for using water sparingly. In this way, we not only want to make our processes as sustainable as possible, but also actively involve and educate the guests of Aletto Hotels.
Sustainable hotels are possible
We are firmly convinced that sustainability and a comfortable hotel stay are possible at the same time. The increasing demand for sustainable solutions reinforces our corporate philosophy and motivates us to drive further changes. At aletto Hotels, we combine comfort with responsibility and invite our guests to join us on this journey. Because for us, sustainability is a promise about our future and a continuous process of continuous improvement.
