Ku'Damm to the East Side — Berlin at it's best
Both hotels are located right in the vibrant center of the capital. The range of possible activities and exciting places can quickly become overwhelming. We recommend a few highlights that you definitely shouldn't miss.
charlottenburg
In western Berlin, tourism highlights meet Berlin authenticity. Kurfürstendamm is probably the most famous boulevard in all of Germany and a pure paradise, especially for shopping fans. From the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church and Breitscheidplatz, you'll walk along Berlin's most famous shopping street, where many international fashion brands are based. For an alternative experience, the Bikini Berlin shopping center is waiting, where you can get everything your heart desires in over 60 stores. But a relaxing stroll along the promenade also offers numerous eye-catchers and gives off a big city feeling like hardly any other place. And when hunger makes itself felt, you'll find a brilliant food court here, which is guaranteed to have something to offer for every taste. Do you like it hearty? Then a genuine Berlin curry sausage is a must! Particularly popular: Bier's Kudamm 195 — famous since 1965 for its blend of champagne and curry sausage. It's pretty weird and pretty Berlin.
Experience Berlin by rail
You can get a really good overview on your final trip in Berlin if you use public transport. The BVG (Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe) are famous for their self-deprecating humor and take you all over the city. With bus line 100, which starts at Zoo station, you can take a double-decker bus tour of the city, and on the S-Bahn, Berlin snout and everything that makes the city stand out in a confined space. The Berlin Ring Railway in particular has a legendary reputation. Whether it's headbanging punk, knitting grandma or the guy who is planning his move by train: Nowhere do as many worlds come together as on public transport in the capital. And anyone who hasn't waited impatiently for a never-coming S-Bahn has never really been to Berlin.
Potsdamer Platz
The huge tent roof of the Sony Center on Potsdamer Platz is majestically enthroned. The electronics company's German headquarters are located here and, of course, you can touch, test and marvel at the latest technical gadgets here. In addition to all sorts of technology, Potsdamer Platz also offers a film museum, cinemas and, in addition to its historic significance, some culinary delights. In the evening, under the colorful changing lights, a nightcap in one of the bars with an outdoor terrace, you can round off an exciting day with the appropriate end.
West Side Nightlife
Shouldn't a relaxing nightcap in a bar be the end of the day? No problem! Away from the typical favorite places of “party tourists”, Charlottenburg and the rest of the west of the city offer honest Berlin bars and world-famous clubs.
For fans of electronic music, the Arena Club is an absolute must. In the shop on Eichenstraße, you can party the nights away, fuelled by some of the best DJs in Germany. Things get a bit more elegant at The Pearl - here people dance until their feet glow in a modern setting. Delicious snacks are served with good drinks and turned night into day.
The fabulous Berghain is also located in the western part of the capital and attracts techno fans and DJs from all over the world. But beware: Anyone who has put Berghain on their bucket list should allow a few hours at the entrance. If you don't feel like it so much, you'll find a much more relaxed door and less crowds in the countless other clubs.
Even the longest night comes to an end at some point. For the famous “morning after”, the green zoo invites you to return to the world completely relaxed.
East Side Gallery
Everyone knows the East Side Gallery — at least every Berliner. Located right on the Spree between the trendy districts of Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg, you can explore the last remains of authentic walls, listen to street musicians or enjoy a cold drink on the meadow by the river. Either dive into Friedrichshain on Warschauer Straße or walk across the Oberbaum Bridge to Kreuzberg, where the alternative scene romps around. Both districts offer breathtaking street art and some of the city's most popular music clubs, such as Kreuzberger SO36. In Friedrichshain, the RAW site with a plethora of clubs, concerts and artists is also waiting for you to discover the creatively designed area.
Alexanderplatz & Co.
Once you're in Berlin, of course, you can't pass by Alexanderplatz. Lonely and gigantic, the television tower towers over the former eastern part of the city and can be seen from almost every point in Berlin. With a bit of patience, you can climb across the city either at the beginning or at the end (including right in the middle of it, of course) and explore the capital from above. Enjoy a gigantic view, which is definitely worthwhile, because although Berlin is a huge metropolis, there are surprisingly few opportunities to actually look at it from “above.” Insider tip: Our roof terraces also offer great views in case the queue at the tower is too long for you.
Berlin is and remains the perfect destination for an unforgettable final trip
As you can see, the capital has the right offer for everyone. Despite all the preparation, it's ultimately worth simply following your nose and freely exploring the streets of the capital during your class or graduation trip. This gives you a real feel for the city and is always right in the middle of it.
Whether Aletto Kudamm or Aletto Potsdamer Platz: From here, the entire city is open to you. So what are you waiting for — discover the capital!
