The most beautiful Christmas markets in Berlin

During the cozy Berlin Advent season, there is hardly anything more beautiful than the flickering lights of candles and fireplaces, the steaming cup of mulled wine and the scent of freshly roasted almonds. In the capital, there are numerous opportunities to spend time with family, friends or colleagues at a Christmas market. In addition to the hustle and bustle on Alexanderplatz or the winter world at Potsdamer Platz with its ice rink, there are many other Christmas markets that you can visit in Berlin. Here are couple games.

For Aletto guests at Potsdamer Platz: The magic of Christmas at Bebelplatz

Hotel guests staying at Aletto am Potsdamer Platz can take a winter walk to Bebelplatz, which is 20 minutes away. Because one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in Berlin-Mitte is taking place there this year. As a result of the climate-friendly renovation of the Gendarmenmarkt, the Weihnachtszauber Gendarmenmarkt will be moved to historic Bebelplatz between 2022 and 2024.

In the historic setting of the capital, the market presents various musicians and other performances on several stages and offers a range of culinary delights, from Christmas snacks to traditional dishes. The gastronomic diversity surpasses all other Christmas markets in Berlin.

From November 27 to December 31, the Christmas lights on Bebelplatz are lit. Admission of 2 euros is limited and admission is even free from Monday to Friday between 12:00 and 14:00. Unfortunately, this does not apply to Christmas Eve and the Christmas holidays and New Year's Eve. A one-kilometer long string of lights and over 1,000 Christmas balls create a Christmas atmosphere and you are sure to find a small Christmas present at the numerous stands.

300 years of history in Charlottenburg, just 15 minutes from the aletto hotel

Charlottenburg Palace is only a quarter of an hour by train from the aletto Hotel am Kudamm. Like the Christmas market on Bebelplatz, the peaceful hustle and bustle of Charlottenburg Palace has a unique atmosphere. Visitors can browse the handmade items at the wooden stands and fortify themselves with selected culinary delights and various types of mulled wine while enjoying the view of the beautifully illuminated castle.

You can also take a stroll and explore the extensive grounds surrounding the palace. There is music every day: professional brass and woodwind ensembles play Baroque music and choirs sing Christmas songs. With around 250 vendors from all over the world, the Christmas market also brings an international atmosphere to the capital.

Historic Christmas in Berlin-Friedrichshain

The historic Christmas market on the RAW site in Berlin is a journey back in time. When you enter the grounds, you can feel the soft bark mulch under your feet and smell the delicious treats from the stands, the mulled wine and the sweet mead mixed with the smoky scent of the burning fire baskets.

Here, visitors dive into a medieval world in which historic booths, festively decorated, present authentic crafts and Christmas delights. Jugglers and acrobats provide exciting entertainment and the children can look forward to the hand-operated Ferris wheel. If you want to feel like you're in the Middle Ages, you can test your archery, axe and knife throwing skills.

From November 16 to December 22, the medieval market opens its doors. Adults pay 3 euros in admission, children up to 5 years of age come in for free. You can find more information on the website.

Above the rooftops of the city - Christmas market at Klunkerkranich

The Neukölln Arcaden at Rathaus Neukölln underground station are a shopping paradise. But you can also experience something very special in summer and winter at Klunkerkranich, a roof garden above Neukölln. A delicious breakfast is usually served here, but during the Advent season, you can experience Christmas on the roof of the city.

Every Saturday and Sunday, the various stands on two floors offer Christmas treats, crafts, clothing, bags, jewelry, accessories and much more — everything that is perfect as a Christmas gift. For a small snack in between, there is apple punch and bratwurst and a varied cultural program in the afternoon.

The old town in Spandau — everything in one fell swoop

If you want a bit of everything, the Christmas market in Spandau is the right place for you. For over 40 years, it has been one of the most beautiful and traditional Christmas markets, with between 250 and 400 market stalls, artists and artisans represented, depending on the day of the week.

A particular highlight is the medieval market, where the fire is fuelled and a blacksmith works on site and produces his goods. With a magnificent Christmas tree and a crib, the Spandau Christmas Market creates a wonderful atmosphere every year. It's no longer a secret tip, but it's still worth a visit.
